TEN SIXTEEN RECOVERY NETWORK
New Residential Treatment Facility
Midland MI

Founded in 1979 as the 1016 House, Ten Sixteen Recovery Network provides substance abuse prevention, outpatient, detox, and residential substance abuse treatment services for five mid-Michigan counties. The original residential facility was located in a 2 1/2 story home in Midland, MI. Due to their growth and the limitations of the existing structure, the agency decided to construct a new facility to house their residential programs.

In 2009 they purchased the former Red Oak Farms located on Isabella road just outside of Midland in Homer Township. This new location would provide them with plenty of room for their new facility but it would also provide improved privacy for their clients and a peaceful atmosphere to assist in their recovery.

ArchiVerde Design, LLC provide Ten Sixteen with a design that provides housing for up to 20 clients in two wings separated between men and women. The residential portion of the building contains dining and living facilities while a separate wing contains group treatment rooms and offices for therapists and house management. Though the project is not LEED certified, the building includes sustainable elements such as extensive day lighting, the use of recycled and rapidly renewable materials, water conservation, and passive solar design.

The project was funded through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Program. Archiverde Design, LLC worked closely with the owner and representatives of the USDA to work through the complete funding process.
